Comprehensive student health insurance plans for Pitt Public Health students.
September 30, 2012 enrollment deadline. Coverage begins as early as September 1, 2012.
All student health insurance information, enrollment, and payment is paperless, including the sign-on process through my.pitt.edu. Even if you had coverage last academic year, re-enrollment is still required for this academic year.
The University of Pittsburgh offers students low cost medical insurance options underwritten by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Health Plan. While Student Health Services offers routine primary care services for treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, it is important to have medical insurance coverage that provides access to specialists and other inpatient and outpatient services.
Full-time graduate students without academic appointments will be given the choice of at least two medical plans in addition to dental and vision coverage. Students with academic appointments (e.g. a GSR) will be notified of their options with their appointment letter. Please note that dental and vision insurance are additional costs. Depending on the plan you choose, premium payments could be required for the entire term or month by month.
Coverage through the University's student health insurance program is optional, and students may choose to seek insurance coverage through other carriers.
All students should have received a summary of available health insurance benefits from the University over the summer. Questions regarding coverage may be referred to the UPMC Health Plan Member Services for the University of Pittsburgh at 1-888-499-6885.
Administration of the student insurance programs is through EBenefits, a division of UPMC Health Plan. All communication from them is through e-mail. It is strongly recommended that you add the e-mail domains ebenefits.com and upmc.edu to your safe senders list.
