Student Health Insurance
Beginning in Fall 2009, a comprehensive student health insurance plan is available to all GSPH students, including those who do not have GSR/GSA/TA/TF appointments. Students with assistantships will receive information on health insurance from their departments with their appointment letters. Students without assistantships may refer to the following link: http://gradcare.hr.pitt.edu/med.htm for information and monthly premium rates. Please note that dental and vision insurance are additional costs.
The UPMC Health Plan's Graduate School Plan is designed to complement your University of Pittsburgh student health services. The Plan can cover more extensive medical treatment or emergency care that you may require during your student years that is not covered by your student health fee, and it also includes prescription drug coverage. Vision and Dental plans are available separately.
Enrollment forms may be obtained from your department contact, as shown below. Enrollment forms and premium checks should be returned either to UPMC via a business reply envelope supplied by your department, or directly to your department, if your department has chosen to mail them in batch to UPMC. If you mail your form and check directly to UPMC, please be sure to obtain a memo from your department certifying your enrollment as a student.
