Pennsylvania One Health Consortium

The University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health coordinates this consortium serving the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to improve the health and well-being of humans, animals, plants and the environment. The One Health consortium serves as a transdisciplinary resource of research, education, policy and community engagement for our commonwealth and the region.

We are pleased to announce the dates for the 2nd Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania One Health Consortium taking place at Pitt in Pittsburgh, PA in June 2026. The meeting will be in person only. 

Please hold the following dates: 

  • Sunday, June 21 - Evening reception
  • Monday, June 22 - Full day of presentations and dialogue on One Health issues in PA, plus a poster session
  • Tuesday, June 23 - Half-day closed session 

This event will bring together those concerned with improving the health of humans, domestic animals, wildlife, plants, soils, and/or ecosystems from across disciplines to advance One Health initiatives in our state.

The approach mobilizes multiple sectors, disciplines and communities at varying levels of society to work together to foster well-being and tackle threats to health and ecosystems, while addressing the collective need for clean water, energy and air, safe and nutritious food, taking action on climate changes and contributing to sustainable development. 

This definition was adopted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2021.
