Pennsylvania One Health Consortium

The University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health coordinates this consortium serving the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to improve the health and well-being of humans, animals, plants and the environment. The One Health consortium serves as a transdisciplinary resource of research, education, policy and community engagement for our commonwealth and the region.

Consortium Members

The approach mobilizes multiple sectors, disciplines and communities at varying levels of society to work together to foster well-being and tackle threats to health and ecosystems, while addressing the collective need for clean water, energy and air, safe and nutritious food, taking action on climate changes and contributing to sustainable development. 

This definition was adopted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2021.
