Contributions to Public Health
- One of the focuses of my research is understanding of mechanisms of the involvement of oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in harmful effects of environmental pollutants leading to cell damages and development of diseases. I have contributed to research on nanotoxicology, focusing on how nano-objects interact with cells. Our work revealed that the enzyme myeloperoxidase can biodegrade carbon nanotubes, offering insight into reducing nanoparticle toxicity.

- I was involved in developing o potential therapeutic agents aimed at mitigating the harmful effects of ionizing radiation. This work has implications for both environmental health and emergency preparedness in radiation exposure scenarios.

- My research helps to clarify involvement of oxidative stress and enzymatic lipid peroxidation in development of ferroptosis—a form of cell death dependent on presence of iron and lipid peroxidation.

- My current work is very important for establishing of the molecular links between environmental pollution, oxidative stress, and ferroptosis. It may help to develop approaches for better treatment of pollution-induced diseases and improvement of population health outcomes.
