Contributions to Public Health

  • My passion is for health education/communication and public health workforce development.
  • My classes are all about putting theory into practice. Whether it's in BCHS 2504, Overview of Health Communications, BCHS 2572, Risk Communication, or BCHS 2516 Video for Health Promotion, students get to collaborate with community organizations to develop skills in a meaningful way. In our school-wide PUBHLT 2034, Public Health Communication course, we explore how effective communication is essential across the entire public health field
  • My research and practice delve into health education/communication and workforce development, with a strong emphasis on evaluation. To that end, I serve as the evaluator and a trainer for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Public Health Training Center. I'm also actively involved in combating mis- and disinformation about vaccines through research and solution development.
  • Beyond the classroom, I'm a committed member of the university community, actively participating in numerous departmental and school-level committees. I also serve as the BCHS representative to EPCC. Additionally, I find great satisfaction in mentoring students through their thesis, essay, and dissertation committees.
