Child Abuse, Adversity Associated With Poor Health and Employment Outcomes Later in Life

People who currently fall into low-income and educational brackets are up to five times as likely to have faced abuse and adversity during childhood as people who fall into higher socioeconomic groups, according to a University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health analysis of Allegheny County residents.

Over a long career, Chuck Christen, currently executive director of the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force (PATF) has managed research on environmental and community health topics from river water stewardship to air quality. Falls Among Pennsylvania Elderly Reduced by State Program

A low-cost program reduced falls in the elderly by 17 percent statewide, illustrating the value and effectiveness of using existing aging services, such as senior centers, in preventing falls, a University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health study determined.
