Traditional genetic epidemiology studies conducted in nation-wide samples in Sweden focusing on drug abuse and alcohol use disorder including twin, adoption and sibling designs, along with more novel methods such as the triparental design, will be discussed. Evidence for environmental transmission within sib and cousin-ships including three new studies examining models of contagion will be explored.
