Ding named ASA Pittsburgh statistician of the year

Ying Ding, PhD, a professor of biostatistics and health data science at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health, has been named the 2026 Statistician of the Year by the American Statistical Association’s Pittsburgh Chapter. The annual award recognizes a statistician whose work has made significant contributions to the field and to the broader community. Ding, who also serves as associate dean for graduate academic affairs, was honored for her influential research, dedicated mentorship of students and trainees, and sustained service to the profession. An internationally recognized leader in Bayesian methods and their application to biomedical research, her work continues to advance statistics and strengthen its impact on public health.
