Volunteer Opportunity: Ultrasound Research Laboratory

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Oct. 4-6, 2021

Dr. Emma Barinas-Mitchell and The Department of Epidemiology Ultrasound Research Lab need volunteers for training of new technicians on the lab’s carotid ultrasound machines.

Who’s eligible:

Anyone who is between the ages of 18 to 70.

What’s involved:

  1. The visit will take approximately 1 hour or less.
  2. You will be asked to lie quietly for up to one hour while an ultrasound probe that produces sound waves is placed on your neck.  This will produce a picture of what your carotid artery looks like on the inside.
  3. This test is non-invasive which means no needles or anything will go in your body.
  4. EKG leads will monitor your heart during the testing.
  5. You may be asked to return to have the test repeated.
  6. You will receive a $10 VinCent card at the end of the testing.
