MPH student Margaret Carr (EPI ‘20) has been awarded the 2019 Bernard D. Goldstein Student Award in Environmental Health Disparities and Public Health Practice in recognition of her project, "Hepatitis C Surveillance at Allegheny County Health Department".
In the award citation, Center for Public Health Practice Director Wendy Braund cites “Your work with ACHD is an outstanding example of the actively involved Pitt Public Health Student-taking your learning from the classroom to the field, applying knowledge and skills to public health practice, and encouraging others to follow your lead.”
Established in 2005 by Bernard Goldstein, former dean of Pitt Public Health and emeritus professor in Environmental and Occupational Health, and his wife Russellyn Carruth, adjunct professor in Pitt's School of Law, the award recognizes in alternating academic years a student associated with the Center for Health Equity or the Center for Public Health Practice. The $2,000 scholarship may be used for tuition, travel, professional organization membership, books, courses, etc.
