A number of important upgrades have been made to in-classroom technology here in the building, including new projectors, sound systems, wireless mikes, and more.
HDI Cables and Adapters
All classrooms are now only using HDMI connections. This means that your current cables and adapters may not work in the classrooms. Currently, there is an HDMI cable attached to one of the jacks in the rooms, but it's not a bad idea to bring one with you in case the room's cable is missing. If your AV laptop needs an adaptor for HDMI, please bring that with you as well. If you need help selecting the proper adapter, please submit a ticket to Public Health Technology Services (https://pittpublichealth.freshdesk.com).
Wireless Microphones for A115 Classroom
Wireless microphones for A115 are kept in a charger on top of the cabinet in the classroom. There is a hand-held mike and a lapel mike, and both of these mikes can be used at the same time if needed. The former wireless microphones no longer work in A115, and the Dean's Office is no longer reserving or handing out microphones for A115.
Wireless microphones for G23 are still reserved and handed out by the Dean's Office.
Podiums in both A115 and G23 still have wired microphones.
Projectors
Classrooms A115, A215, A216, and A425 now have new projectors. For video, the new projectors have two HDMI jacks (HDMI1 and HDMI2) either on the side of the room's podium or in the room's AV cabinet. These rooms no longer support VGA. The rooms also have a BluRay/DVD player.
If you use the projector during your class, please be sure to shut it off before leaving. Otherwise, the equipment will most likely power down during the next class's lecture.
