Friends and Colleagues –
The Intel Science Fair (a program of the Society for Science and the Public) will be held here in Pittsburgh in May. The conference will include 1700 students from 75 countries among a total of 5,000-7,000 attendees. These high school students are the top winners of regional, state and national science fairs from around the United States and the world. The Society is seeking interpreters, general volunteers and judges in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from May 13-18, 2018. 1000 judges in 22 scientific disciplines are needed to judge the presentations and posters given by bright, STEM-intended young people.
Anyone with a doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DrPH, MD, DMD, PharmD, etc.) can be a judge. Senior level graduate students are eligible, as well. The judging takes place over two days at the Convention Center. Sponsored by Pitt, CMU, the Carnegie Science Center and VisitPittsburgh, this event is not only a pivotal one for the student attendees, it’s a great showcase for Pittsburgh.
Please consider judging, and please share this information with your faculty and clinicians, postdocs and research staff, as well as graduate students nearing the end of their doctoral training.
Volunteers may sign up here: https://student.societyforscience.org/volunteers.
Thank you for your consideration (and thank you in advance for your help!)
