CHEC Evaluates Childhood Asthma in Pittsburgh

The Center for Healthy Environments and Communities (CHEC) in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health was awarded $30,000 from Healthy Home Resources of Pittsburgh to evaluate a childhood asthma prevention program designed to identify and remediate in-home environmental exposures that can trigger asthma attacks. CHEC researchers will evaluate whether children in the program used their rescue inhalers less and had fewer lost school days and visits to the emergency room.
