Dr. Steven M. Albert has been appointed Chair of the Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences in the Graduate School of Public Health.
Dr. Albert has been a professor with tenure in GSPH’s Behavioral and Community Health Sciences Department since April 2006. He has served as the Associate Chair in BCHS since July 1, 2007, providing the department with mentoring of faculty and students, research grant reviews, and leadership in curriculum development. His current research project, Falls Free PA, examines the effects of the PA Department of Aging's Healthy Steps and Healthy Steps in Motion programs.
Dr. Albert is an outstanding scientist and researcher. He has done leading work on the functional significance of cognitive and physical impairment and its broader impact on health outcomes. He carried this exceptional research forward in the areas of Alzheimer’s disease, HIV-related dementia, and in non-demented older adults. He will be a dynamic leader of the department.
