NAHQ Announces Janice Zgibor for New Authors Award Recipient


The National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) announces Janice Zgibor, PhD as recipient of the Journal for Healthcare Quality (JHQ) 2005 Golden Pen New Author Award. An official presentation was scheduled during the NAHQ 30th Annual Educational Conference to be held in New Orleans, LA, September 17 - 20, 2005. The conference was cancelled as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Zgibor is receiving this award for the article “Improving the Quality of Diabetes Care in Primary Care Practice,” which appeared in the July/August 2004 issue of JHQ. Co-authors included Harsha Rao, MD; Jacqueline Wesche-Thoboden, BSN RN CDE; Nancie Gallagher, BSN RN CDE; Janis McWilliams, MSN RN CDE; and Mary T. Korytkowski, MD. Zgibor is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology with the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh, and Director of Evaluation at the University of Pittsburgh Diabetes Institute. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Department of Health Diabetes Stakeholders Committee. NAHQ initiated the JHQ New Author Golden Pen Award to provide special recognition for outstanding contributions to the journal from members of the association who have demonstrated excellence in writing and had not previously published an article in the journal.
