Norm Mitry brings 35+ years of experience to Heritage Valley Health System with a unique blend of responsibilities in healthcare, industry and private business.

Norm is in his 18th year with Heritage Valley Health System (12 years as CEO and 6 years as CFO) and prior to 1995, Norm was executive vice president and chief financial officer for the Pittsburgh Mercy Health System, where he worked for nine years. Before entering the healthcare field, Norm Mitry served as director of cost accounting and special projects for Jessop Steel in Washington, Pennsylvania.

Norm’s experience and expertise revolves around finance, information technology, strategic planning and “turnaround” management. Additionally, Norm was one of the principal architects in the design, development and implementation of the Heritage Valley Integrated Delivery System and associated Electronic Health Record.

Norm Mitry received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Robert Morris University and a Master’s Degree in Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University.

Norm is also very proud to have served as the commencement speaker for the 2008 graduating class of Robert Morris University and to be the recipient of an honorary doctorate degree from the University.

Norm serves on the Boards of Robert Morris University, Salvation Army of Beaver County, Beaver County Educational Trust, UPMC Healthplan, and Hospital Association of Pennsylvania. Norm is also an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Health Policy & Management.

Norm resides in Center Township with his wife Peggy and has two stepdaughters Lauren and Kaitlin.
