My research interests involve the investigation of the functional genomics of acute lung injury, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. We seek to uncover the molecular mechanisms by which air pollutants exacerbate or cause lung diseases. These studies involve various strategies including genetic mapping, transcriptomics, proteomics and transgenic/gene-targeted murine systems. Our long term goal is to better understand the genetic basis of increased susceptibility to pulmonary epithelial injury and repair.
