Dr. Demirci's major research area of interest is to investigate the genetic and molecular basis of common complex diseases of public health importance, including autoimmune and inflammatory diseases (with primary emphasis on systemic lupus erythematosus), cardiovascular risk factors (subclinical atherosclerosis measures and lipid traits) and events, and Alzheimer’s disease.
