Faculty speak out on “Inequality Across Gender and Race” report

Faculty members Dara Mendez (EPI) and Tiffany Gary-Webb (EPI/BCHS) shared some very real, thoughtful criticisms of the “Inequality Across Gender and Race” report recently issued by the city which found major inequities in health, income, employment and education among whites, blacks and other minorities.

These two Pitt Public Health faculty were among the co-signers of a letter authored by multiple women at different groups throughout our region responding to the report and challenging city leadership to take this issue seriously.  Cited among their critiques was the "lack of representation of Black women and femme community leaders and researchers in Pittsburgh who have been doing this work among the authors of this report."
