Dissertation Writers' One-Day Workshop

Doctoral candidates are encouraged to attend a one-day Dissertation Writers' Workshop. You'll learn about research resources and strategies for staying sane while writing. This is a hands-on workshop: come ready to do some long- and short-term planning as well as writing. Space is limited so RSVP right away! Graduate students with approved proposals are eligible to participate. Reservation deadline is Wednesday, October 31. Be sure to include your name, program, school, and expected graduation date in your email. This event is sponsored by the Writing Center and the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. The schedule is as follows:

9:00 A.M.: Arrive, get coffee/tea
9:15 A.M.: Writing Center Presentation: "Overcoming Resistance and Staying Sane While Writing Your Dissertation"
10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.: Focused writing time
12:00 P.M.: Lunch break
1:00 P.M.: Writing Center Presentation: "Getting Organized by Using Short- and Long-term Planning"
2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M.: Focused writing time

What you should bring:
Coffee, tea, and bagels will be provided in the morning. If you prefer something different, please bring it.
Bring laptops and writing-related materials for the dedicated writing time.
Please bring your lunch. (We have a small refrigerator and a microwave.)
The Writing Center's heating and cooling is highly variable, so wear layers.
