Evidence-Based Teaching Practices Workshop: How Do Students Become Self-Directed Learners

Wednesday 5/8 12:00PM - 1:00PM
A521 Public Health

Looking for practical advice to improve your teaching? Interested in research-based theory on how students learn?

Join fellow Pitt Public Health instructors for the Evidence-Based Teaching Practices Workshop series! Throughout the semester, we will explore how to implement proven teaching strategies in the classroom. At each workshop in this seven-part series, we will facilitate a discussion of a chapter of How Learning Works: 7 Research-Based Principles for Smart Teaching (available to read for free online).

At our final session, we will discuss how students become self-directed learners (Chapter 7).

All interested faculty, staff, postdocs, teaching assistants, and students are welcome to participate, and each workshop can be taken independently of one another. Reading ahead of time is encouraged, but not required for participation.

For more information or to be added to the CourseWeb group for the workshop, please contact John Shaffer.
