Evidence-Based Teaching Practices Workshop: Why Do Student Development and Course Climate Matter

Wednesday 4/24 12:00PM - 1:00PM
A521 Public Health

Looking for practical advice to improve your teaching? Interested in research-based theory on how students learn?

Join fellow Pitt Public Health instructors for the Evidence-Based Teaching Practices Workshop series! Throughout the semester, we will explore how to implement proven teaching strategies in the classroom. At each workshop in this seven-part series, we will facilitate a discussion of a chapter of How Learning Works: 7 Research-Based Principles for Smart Teaching (available to read for free online).

At our sixth session, we will discuss why student development and course climate matters for student learning (Chapter 6).

All interested faculty, staff, postdocs, teaching assistants, and students are welcome to participate, and each workshop can be taken independently of one another. Reading ahead of time is encouraged, but not required for participation.

For more information or to be added to the CourseWeb group for the workshop, please contact John Shaffer.

SAVE THE DATE - Session 7 will be May 8, 12-1 p.m. in A521 Public Health. The topic of discussion will be how students become self-directed learners. Find other session dates and professional development opportunities here.
