This week Pitt Public Health is launching a public art campaign of banners showing those impacted by the field of public health and sharing some of the school's areas of excellence such as health equity, healthy aging, global and women's health. "With seven departments doing widely different work, we're always seeking new ways to respond to the question, 'What is public health?'" says Eleanor Feingold, senior associate dean."One solution is to focus on the people impacted by our work."

The banner effort parallels a national campaign by the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH), dubbed the This is Public Health (TIPH) campaign, which aims to brand public health and raise awareness of how public health affects individuals, families, communities, and populations. For the Pittsburgh effort, a dozen images were selected for initial display in an around the public health building from a collection of over 100 concepts developed by marketing manager and graphic designer Karen Coulter Perkins.

The project launch is timed to coincide with "Celebrate 70, the schools 70th Anniversary, Alumni Reunion, and Building Rededication Celebration, scheduled for March 16 & 17. Find out more at publichealth.pitt.edu/Celebrate70 and at thisispublichealth.org.
