DEAN BURKE led a session at the 2017 Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) Annual Meeting in Washington, DC., on "Forecasting and Deflecting the Opioid Epidemic Curve."
During the session, Burke stuck his neck out with opioid overdose projections based on biostatistical data gathered by JEANINE BUCHANICH and the Mortality Information and Research Analytics (MOIRA) system, a repository and retrieval system for detailed death data from the National Center for Health Statistics developed at Pitt Public Health and named for the Fates of Greek mythology.
Read more about the ways MoIRA is allowing us to track trajectory of the epidemic in Pitt Public Health magazine, page 9.
