This Year's One Book, One Community Program

Pick up Dreamland: The True Tale of America's Opiate Epidemic  by Sam Quinones, Pitt Public Health's 2015-2016 One Book, One Community book. Journalist Sam Quinones chronicles how enterprising sugar cane farmers in Mexico created a unique distribution system bringing black tar heroin to the veins of people across the U.S.  He simultaneously weaves this story together with that of Purdue Pharma in Stamford, Connecticut and their cornering of the market on pain with OxyContin.
