Mallinckrodt Grant Program


The University of Pittsburgh may submit two grant applications to the Mallinckrodt Grant Program of the Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr. Foundation. A grant from this program provides $60,000 per year in direct costs for three years. No indirect costs are provided. The funds are to be used to develop a new project to the point that it will be competitive for the awarding of external funding in the form of an R01 (or similar) grant. An eligible applicant is an MD and/or PhD investigator who is in the first – fourth year of a tenure track position and who does not have current R01 funding.. The University of Pittsburgh may submit two applications to this program, and applications are due to the Foundation on August 1 of any given year. Anyone wishing to be considered as an applicant for a Mallinckrodt grant should submit 1) a CV or NIH biosketch; 2) a one page description of the proposed project; and 3) a letter of nomination from his or her department chair (division chief, institute director) to Dr. Michelle Broido, Associate Vice Chancellor for Biomedical Research, by May 9 at 4:00 pm. Internal deadline: 4:00 pm, May 9 (If this date falls on a weekend, the preliminary information is due on the Monday immediately following the weekend.)
