Evelyn Talbott, Dr PH, professor in the Department of Epidemiology was interviewed live on the Weather Channel Wednesday morning regarding her research on heat and health. The Post-Gazette also interviewed Talbott for an article that ran last Friday.
Talbott, along with Xiaohui Xu from the University of Florida College of Medicine, led a study that found a 12 percent increase in hospitalizations for stroke when temperatures reach 87 degrees or higher. According to the study, these temperatures pose a notably higher risk of stroke for people 65 and older.
