Assistant Professor Felicia Wu Honored for Environmental Health Research


Felicia Wu, PhD, GSPH assistant professor of environmental and occupational health, has been named as a 2011 SCOPE-Zhongyu Young Scientist Award on Environmental Issues for her research on environmental management, through a competitive nomination and review process.

The SCOPE-Zhongyu Environmental Awards recognize and encourage outstanding scientists who contribute to the improvement of the world environment through the promotion of environmental sciences, technology innovation, and sustainable policy and management. Through these awards, SCOPE and Zhongyu Environmental Technologies Corporation seek to sustain and guide the development of environmental science and technology, and to foster cooperation between scientists and decision-makers in environmental protection and management strategies. The awards are awarded annually to three researchers who have made outstanding achievements or significant contributions to research on
1) environmental sciences,
2) environmental technology, and
3) environmental management.

The awards ceremony will take place in Yixing, China (near Shanghai) on November 28, 2011. Both the president of Zhongyu Environmental Technologies Corporation and the president of SCOPE will preside. The ceremony will be part of the opening for the international environmental forum organized in Yixing by UNESCO, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and SCOPE on November 28-30, 2011.
