Dean Burke Featured in Military Medical Pioneers Video Series

GSPH Dean Donald S. Burke, MD, is featured in a series of videos produced by the Military Health Service to document military medical pioneers. He discusses how his experience studying infectious diseases in the Army helped shape his philosophy that energies in infectious disease outbreak research should move away from surveillance and response and toward prediction and prevention.

The Military Health System (MHS) is a partnership of medical educators, medical researchers, and health care providers and their support personnel worldwide. This Department of Defence (DoD) enterprise consists of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs; the medical departments of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Joint Chiefs of Staff; the Combatant Command surgeons; and TRICARE providers (including private sector healthcare providers, hospitals and pharmacies).
