Directions

The Graduate School of Public Health is located at 130 DeSoto Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15261. Click here for information on parking.

From the North

  • Take I-79 South to the I-279 South Exit.
  • Follow I-279 into the city, then take the I-376 Monroeville Exit.
  • Follow I-376 to the Forbes Avenue/Oakland Exit.
  • Follow Forbes Avenue to the University of Pittsburgh.
  • Turn left onto Oakland Avenue.
  • Cross over Forbes Avenue and Fifth Avenue.
  • The Graduate School of Public Health will be on your right as Oakland Avenue turns into DeSoto Street. 

From the South

  • Follow I-79 North to the I-279 North Exit.
  • Take 279 through the Fort Pitt Tunnel and across the Fort Pitt Bridge.
  • At the end of the bridge, take the I-376 Monroeville Exit, the first exit on the right.
  • Follow 376 to the Forbes Avenue/Oakland Exit.
  • Follow Forbes Avenue to the University of Pittsburgh.
  • Turn left onto Oakland Avenue.
  • Cross over Forbes Avenue and Fifth Avenue.
  • The Graduate School of Public Health will be on your right as Oakland Avenue turns into DeSoto Street. 

From the East

  • Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) west to Exit 6.
  • At Exit 6, take I-376 West.
  • Take Exit 7A, Oakland. At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn right onto Bates Street.
  • Stay on Bates until it ends at Bouquet Street. Turn left onto Bouquet.
  • At the third stop sign, turn left onto Sennott Street.
  • At the stop sign, turn right onto Oakland Avenue.  Cross over Forbes Avenue and Fifth Avenue.
  • The Graduate School of Public Health will be on your right as Oakland Avenue turns into DeSoto Street.

From the West

  • Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) east to Exit 3.
  • At Exit 3, follow signs to I-79 South.
  • Exit to the left off I-79 onto I-279 South.
  • Follow I-279 into the city, then take the I-376 Monroeville exit.
  • Follow I-376 to the Forbes Avenue/Oakland Exit.
  • Follow Forbes Avenue to the University of Pittsburgh.
  • Turn left onto Oakland Avenue.
  • Cross over Forbes Avenue and Fifth Avenue.
  • The Graduate School of Public Health will be on your right as Oakland Avenue turns into DeSoto Street.

Where to Stay

The majority of the following hotels are in Oakland and are at most a 20-30 minute walk from Pitt Public Health . They are listed in order of proximity, starting with the closest. 

You may want to consider using the Port Authority bus service to get to campus from your hotel. For questions concerning the Port Authority of Allegheny County, call 412-624-3228 to reach the University’s Telefact service, a student-operated organization whose mission is to answer questions about the University and the city. They are open from Noon-9 p.m. during the school year. Be aware that bus fare is $2.25 each way, and the drivers do not give change.
