There's No Vaccine Yet for CMV


Despite the prevalence of cytomegalovirus or CMV, screening for the virus is not commonly done. Work on a vaccine for CMV has been going on for many years, but at this point only some antiviral drugs are available to lessen the effect of an infection, including valganciclovir, said microbiologist Charles Rinaldo, PhD, an expert in cytomegalovirus at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.
