Dr. Dorman is a genetic epidemiologist who has focused her research on the familial clustering of type 1 diabetes and other auto immune disorders, and their impact on women’s reproductive health. She also acts as a Co-director for the WHO Collaboration Center for Disease Monitoring, Telecommunications and the Molecular Epidemiology of Diabetes Mellitus. Dr. Dorman has mentored numerous masters and doctoral students in epidemiology and human genetics, many of who now hold academic positions. She has been an invited lecturer at national and international meetings in: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China Columbia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Egypt, England, Finland, France, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Pakistan, Santo Domingo, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, and the United States. Dr. Dorman has received funding from the American Diabetes Foundation, the Department of Defense, NATO and the NIH.
