Marian Jarlenski, PhD, MPH, has been appointed as a scholar in the Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH) Career Development Program (K12HD043441). The BIRCWH training program is offered to academic faculty in the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Health Sciences and Magee Womens Research Institute who seek exceptional interdisciplinary training across a woman’s lifespan. With support from the BIRCWH program, Dr. Jarlenski will conduct mentored research to investigate the effects of state prenatal substance use reporting and treatment policies on prenatal substance use treatment, maternal substance use at delivery, and adverse birth outcomes. Dr. Jarlenski’s mentoring team includes Lisa Bodnar, PhD, MPH, RD, Associate Professor of Epidemiology in the Graduate School of Public Health; Debra Bogen, MD, FAAP, FABM, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Clinical and Translational Sciences in the School of Medicine; and Judy Chang, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Health Sciences in the School of Medicine.
