ANDREA KRISKA addresses American Diabetes Association on activity and prevention

MD MAGAZINE (video) - Whatever it is called there is mounting evidence that staying active, whether through exercise or other means, is an important part of preventing the development of diabetes as well as overall health in general.

Pitt Public Health epidemiology professor Andrea M. Kriska discussed this topic during the annual meeting of the American Diabetes Association in New Orleans. Kriska said that while exercise can be one way of staying active it is not the only way. Her research, she said, is now looking at the simple benefits that can come from patients taking steps like sitting less during the course of their day.
