Pitt Public Health was established in 1948 with one gift of $13.6 million from the Andrew W. Mellon Education and Charitable Trust. More than 60 years later, Pitt Public Health continues to be supported and sustained by the many generous gifts of alumni, private individuals, foundations, organizations, and corporations.
There are many ways your gift can help Pitt Public Health. Consider a giving option that means the most to you:
Whatever is Needed Most
You may give an unrestricted gift to the school as a whole, or to a specific department. Your gift will be used in the area of greatest need.
Provide Scholarships and Awards for Students
You generosity helps us attract the most promising future public health professionals. Scholarships are available on a school-wide basis and for students in specific departments. You can contribute to an existing scholarship or create one of your own. Your gift might enable a promising student to attend Pitt Public Health who might not otherwise have been able to.
Fund Research Excellence
Every day, Pitt Public Health is developing strategies to build a healthier world through its interdisciplinary areas of excellence. Your gift could help fund a study involving any particular population, including children, women, men, minorities, ethnic groups, the elderly, LGBT individuals, city dwellers, or rural inhabitants, or for a particular discipline.
For example, one recent gift to the Public Health Dynamics Laboratory enabled Pitt Public Health researchers to collaborate with researchers in Taiwan and Brazil to train them in public health computational modeling that they could then take back to their own countries. Computer modeling served as the connection for this gift, as the project was fully funded by the family foundation of a successful modeling software expert.
