Brooks Receives the 2012 Craig Award for Excellence in Teaching

Maria Brooks, associate professor in the epidemiology department has been awarded the 2013 James L. Craig Award for Teaching Excellence for her exceptional service in and outside of the classroom, encouraging learning and professional growth of all of her students and advisees, ensuring that classroom content is meaningful and relevant, well thought out and organized, as well as being able to teach and convey concepts in the complex area of epidemiology that overlaps with biostatistics.

Established by Pitt Public Health alumnus James L. Craig, MD, MPH ’63, this award recognizes faculty who have excelled in the teaching and mentoring of students. Craig awardees are nominated annually by Pitt Public Health students and are selected by a committee of students and past Craig awardees. The award will be presented to Dr. Brooks by the President of the SGA at the Pitt Public Health Convocation on April 28.
