Dedicated Alumni Inducted into Delta Omega Honor Society in 2014

Three alumni were inducted into Pitt Public Health's Omicron Chapter of Delta Omega at the 2014 Alumni Awards  dinner:  Aaron Mendelsohn (EPI '96), Sean Rinella (EPI 0'10), and Adam Straub (EOH 0'08). “It is an honor to recognize these distinguished alumni for their commitment to advancing public health through research, teaching and community service,” said Donald S. Burke, Pitt Public Health dean and UPMC-Jonas Salk Chair of Global Health.

Fabisiak and Brink: Air pollution increases regional health risks

PITTSBURGH TODAY - “PM2.5 is probably the chief concern for the region, mainly because of its contribution from a source as big as the Clairton plant has an effect over a fairly large area,” said EOH associate prof JAMES FABISIAK.... “Everything that’s a risk factor for bad health is showing up high in that area,” said LUANN BRINK, Allegheny County Health Department deputy director and chief epidemiologist (as well as EPI alum and assistant prof)...

Stacy wins Scholar-in-Training Award

Shaina Stacy (EOH '15), a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Epidemiology, received the Scholar-in-Training Award from the American Association for Cancer Research for her work Early Life Risk Factors and Childhood Cancer Risk. The award supports travel to the AACR annual meeting in Atlanta.

Gibb: 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award for Practice

Now president of Gibb Epidemiology Consulting, Herman Gibb (EOH ’74) has more than 35 years of experience in health risk assessment and has provided expert consultation to a variety of international and national clients. He chairs the World Health Organization (WHO) Foodborne Epidemiology Reference Group Chemical Task Force and was a member of the Science Advisory Committee of the U.S. Transuranium and Uranium Registries and Presidential Advisor...
