Pitt Opens Evidence-Based Policy Center; Releases Major Report on Health Needs of Aging America

The University of Pittsburgh Health Policy Institute today launched the Stern Center for Evidence-Based Policy and released its first report, “Addressing the Health Needs of an Aging America.”

Biostatistics Student Wins National Award

Xiaotian (Steven) Gao, a Masters student in the Department of Biostatistics at Pitt Public Health is the 2015 and inaugural winner of the Lingzi Liu memorial award.

The University of Pittsburgh will lead a $14 million clinical trial to determine how well an intervention that helps people better understand their back pain early on works toward promoting recovery and keeping the pain from becoming chronic down the road. UPMC will be the first in the trial to offer the intervention, followed by four other academic medical centers nationwide.

Biostatistics student SungHwan Kim receives ENAR Award

PhD Student SungHwan Kim (Advisors: George C. Tseng) was selected as the recipient of one of the ENAR student awards for his paper titled “Integrative multi-omics clustering for disease subtype discovery by sparse overlapping group lasso and tight clustering”.
