Environmental Signals of Economic Change and their Health Impacts

Friday 12/9 12:00PM - 1:30PM

A health geographer specializing in geospatial methods, Dr. Dodson’s primary research focus is the coupled human-environment relationship, a complex system that often shapes health outcomes. Taking a mixed-methods approach, he has pursued this line of inquiry in a diverse array of low-resource settings such as sub-Saharan Africa and Appalachia, demonstrating how environmental signals may be associated with changes in health status. Drawing from political ecology, this research highlights the inequality associated with economic change.
